Front cover and Feature article

This lesson i am redrafting my feature article as i handed it in on Monday and got feedback which was to make it longer and more natural as the interview was more formal than it needed to be. i will use more simplistic language as it is aimed at teens and young adults therefore it will be more relatable for them. I plan to make the fact file on one of the artists longs too. I am also making the last few changes to my front cover such as the main image as the focus is not great and on a full size magazine it wouldnt look great so i plan to take a few new photos.

First week back

This lesson im going to finish and improve my front cover and i will also hand in my first draft of my feature article. I will then get feedback and improve what needs to be improved. im basically finished my front cover i just need to add more text. I need to add certain things such as dates etc to make the magazine realistic. I will also change the font as it looks quite messy. After i have done this i will move on to the contents page.

First Draft Feature Article

Over half term i have written my first draft for my feature article. I have wrote about two performers joining together for a concert and how they were old friends. I have done an interview with them as if they were talking about the concert, their new duet and how they came to work with one another. I have also put tour dates at the bottom of the article and shown different cities as the concert is supposed to be the biggest, most looked forward to, event of the year. I then put a fact file on one of the artists and give information about his past and how he became the artist he is now etc. I used Kerrang as my style model for this and they had a fact file about Billy Joe Armstrong, the lead singer of Green Day. I thought this was a good idea as i needed to extend my article as it was not a suitable length that would be seen in a magazine.

Fonts

Todays lesson i have searched for different fonts for the title of the magazine. When i found one i then altered it to for the front cover and experimented with different colours to see which was the mosy effective. I then began to write what type of story would be in the feature article on the cover. By saying things such as "Liam Lovato tour! Find out who will be making a surprise appearance!" I will begin to do a draft of my feature article over the half term. I plan to write about how the two artists are collaborating and why. I will use language that will attract young adults and teenagers so they can relate to the article.

More Photography

In Wednesdays lesson Liam and Jen modelled for me again, I decided to use Jen as well as Liam so i have more than one model. I have started working on the front cover, the photo is a picture of the two of them, Liam has his arm around Jen. I am still trying to find the right backround colour as quite a lot of the colours i have tried clash with the colours on Liam's jumper. I am unsure about this photo at the minute because it doesnt look like it would be on a rock/indie magazine as on my style model, the models dont just look at the camera smiling, but for the minute i will use it until i take new photos so i can block out where the writing on the cover will go. This is one of the images i took but i wont use it as they dont look anything like they would be in a rock magazine by their pose and how they are just smiling intop the camera, so i will take more images soon.

Possible Fonts- Front Cover

This was the first font that i tried for my front cover, however, it doesnt look as good as i hoped so i tried other fonts such as....

I think this looks a lot better on my front cover, the shattered font is typical for a rock magazine. I will most likely use this font but i will have to change the colour as my backround colour is grey and black.

This is another example of one of the fonts i tried. I asked my friends, who would be the potentional audience for the magazine and 10 out of 12 liked the 2nd font so im going to use that one.

Vlog

On Saturday my friend helped me make my vlog, i explained what i have done so far such as the photos ive took and how i took them, i then mentioned what photos i will use where. I said what my style model was- Kerrang. I also said that i chose Liam to be my model as he has the rock/indie image. On Wednesday morning Liam is free and so is Jen so i will take more photos of them so i have more than one model.
